I just watched it today, and yes I thought that was great!!! I think overall DavidPro's done really well making us care about the characters sooner.. like with already having shown us Abbacchio's/Mista's backstories, showcasing (imo) Narancia more. I ended up really liking the whole gang in the manga too of course, but they definitely comes off way stronger to me in the anime.
I remember when I read the manga, the Sorbet/Gelato flashback bit really gave me the impression that La Squadra was an interesting tight-knit group, but since everyone besides Formaggio was shadowed out + I thiiiink (correct me if I'm wrong) we otherwise never see La Squadra together in the manga. I really like how we got them all at once this time-- it also feels like it mirrors Buccellati's gang that way.
Also I'm glad DavidPro is apparently making everything gayer in the anime (Buccellati/Abbacchio, now Sorbet/Gelato) although in this case it was kind of awkward too since the later got axed so fast and brutally lmao. But the general direction they lean in makes me look forward even more for later parts to get adapted >:^)
TLDR I AGREE I loved the episode as usual and am hype for next week as always!!!!!!
I got into the fandom at a time when there weren't really decent scanlations for Part 4 so I stopped reading and never did manage to get back into the manga Part 4 and beyond until the anime came out.
Right now I'm reading the equivalent chapters for every Part 5 episode right before/after I watch it and like you said, I think the anime does a better job of establishing La Squadra as a parallel to Buccellati's gang. Definitely did a better job imo of driving home how horrified the rest of the group was at Sorbet and Gelato's fate.

And ohh, that sounds really fun re: reading as you watch! That's making me think maybe we could have posts laying out the anime/manga differences? 🤔 I already look that up anyway so I'd be up for making that if no one else is but think it's a good idea.. could potentially add some community value..?
